Status Report from the Editor

It’s been a very busy and exciting time in the last few months-from the inception and announcement of the journal at Kings & Queens 2 in July 2013 until now when the journal is nearly ready to launch. I feel incredibly fortunate to be working with an enthusiastic and talented group of scholars and postgraduate students across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia to make the Royal Studies Journal a reality.

We are nearly there now-our Advisory Board, Copy Editing and Layout teams and been working hard to put the framework in place. The most difficult thing has been the technical side-there has been a huge learning curve on the ins and outs of hosting protocols, open access software packages and web design. Thanks to the hard work of our Technical Editor and the IT department at the University of Winchester, these thorny issues are nearly all resolved now, phew!

The next step is opening the call for submissions for the first issue-this will emerge as soon as the journal’s official website and OJS system is fully up and running-we anticipate that this will be ready within the next few weeks. Keep your eye out on our blog, twitter (@royalstjournal) and Facebook page and you’ll be the first to know when the call is opened and the website is live!

Launching a new journal

At the conference “Kings & Queens II: Making Connections – Alliances, Networks, Correspondence & Comparisons” at Winchester in 2013, the Royal Studies Network thought it time to expand our range even further. The field of Royal Studies needed a journal!

Now we are preparing for the launch this year, hoping to bring this new academic, peer-reviewed, open access Journal to you.
Lots of stuff still to do, and building a blog as platform to connect readers, authors, and editors is just one important step in this whole process.

So, stay tuned and subscribe to our RSS-Feed, Twitter, Facebook, or Email-List for forthcoming information!
